Many happy couples have found that lockdown has bought them closer together. During the pandemic many couples have got engaged. Other couples have got engaged before the pandemic and are waiting for normality to return before they start wedding planning. If you are a newly engaged couple looking for the perfect venue for your wedding, then this is the blog post for you. We share our top tips for choosing your wedding venue.

A Personal Venue

If there is one thing that we have learnt with our many years’ experience in wedding planning, it’s that every couple is different and unique. Take the time to choose a wedding venue that suits your personalities and styles. In past years the only option has been to marry in a religious place or a registered building. However, you can now get married anywhere. A beautiful beach wedding, a marvellous mansion, a fabulous forest wedding, or a charming church wedding. You really can marry your loved one anywhere you choose. Choosing the sort of place that you want to marry, will help you narrow down the wedding venue search.

Your Budget

Before you start looking at venues, start putting your wedding budget together. Think about how much you have to spend on your wedding. How much of this would you like to go on your wedding venue. Remember, separate to the wedding venue will be the wedding décor costs, food and evening reception entertainment. Being on a tight budget doesn’t mean you can’t have your dream wedding. For example, the hire for a clearing in the woods can be very low, then you can decide how you will dress the area.

Your Location

Different areas will cost different amounts. City weddings will often be more costly due to venue. However, maybe you would prefer to marry abroad. Think about who you would like at your wedding and where they live. Will they be able and willing to travel across country, or even to another country to your wedding? Think about where they can stay too. If they are travelling hundreds of miles for your wedding, will there be somewhere nearby that they can stay?

Stay Open Minded

While you may think the idea of a hotel wedding is definitely not for you, don’t turn it down all together. There are some stunning hotels that create really beautiful and personal wedding days for hundreds of happy couples. However, you could be even more open minded and have a completely different wedding. For example, if you and your partner are animal lovers why not get married at the zoo? Are you and your loved one fans of films or the stage? How about a wedding at a nearby picture house or theatre?

Be In Control

With your loved one and your wedding planner, write down a list of non-negotiables. These are things you want on your special day and cannot imagine your special day without. For example, this could be fireworks outside, fairground rides or your favourite local chef catering the event. Then, your wedding planner can source venues that can meet your wedding day goals.

Get ‘That’ Feeling

When you visit the wedding venue, make sure it gives you ‘that’ feeling. Can you envision yourself walking down the aisle? Do you get butterflies as you pull up at the venue? If you get ‘that’ feeling, then that is your perfect wedding venue.
