Here at Elite Events ECL we have always been a little different to other event planners and event organisers in Peterborough. Not only do we plan events, but we also do event consultancy and project management. We have the skills and experience to offer that ‘next level’ service when it comes to events, consultancy and project management.

Recently we have been working as a virtual project manager for a client with a project based in Lowestoft. During lockdown the client required extra help to run their business smoothly and were recommended to us by another happy client we have worked with in the past.

So, what does project management mean?

In simple terms, as described by Google, project management is the application of processes, methods, skills, knowledge, and experience to achieve specific project objectives. A project manager will have final deliverables that are constrained to a finite timescale and budget.

Now you can see why this fits so well with the event planning side of the business. Events are all about processes and all events have a timescale and budget. You know when you want your special event to take place, and you know how much you have available to spend on the event too.

So, what does a virtual project manager do?

There are lots of roles and responsibilities that a virtual project manager can do. This client is working on the conversion of a hotel into 15 luxury apartments and a café. They needed our help to manage this project, while they focused on the rest of the business.

We began working with them as they needed support with their planning application, they needed help to update contact schedules and the programme deliverables.

As time went on, our client saw how much they needed Elite Events ECL to manage more of the project. We are now responsible for all project systems, filing, deliverables and assisting in getting quotations.

On top of this, we work with the client to manage consultants, manage all interactions with government agencies, assist with the accommodation for key workers as required, liaise with suppliers and manage discussions with grant teams.

If you need help with any of your projects, whether that’s planning it out at the beginning, swooping in at the middle or tying lose ends before completion, we can help.
